The Tennessee Theatre enriches our area by offering a multitude of performing arts events and classic films.
The Knoxville Symphony
The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra performs Classical Music. The term "classical music" can represent anything from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony to a Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto. Generally, classical music is played by a symphonic ensemble comprised of strings (violins, violas, cellos and basses), woodwinds (clarinets, oboes, flutes and bassoons), brass (trumpets, French horns, trombones and tubas) and percussion (drums, xylophones and bells), or some combination thereof.

The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra
The Knoxville Jazz Orchestra is a non-profit corporation founded in 1999 by trumpeter, composer and arranger Vance Thompson. The mission of the organization is to promote jazz music through public performance, education initiatives and the commissioning of new work.

The Rose Center

The East Tennessee Concert Band
The Band's purpose is to bring quality band and wind ensemble music to the citizens of the region and it is dedicated to excellence in symphonic band performance.

Instrumental Music Organizations
East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association
This is the East Tennessee Music Educators organization. Mrs. Gorbski is a member. The ETSBOA promotes the advancement of instrumental music education in the schools. They also encourage music activities through festivals and clinics.

The National Association for Music Education
The mission of the MENC is "To advance music education by encouraging the study and making of music by all". (Formerly Music Educators National Conference, the association's name was changed in 1998 to MENC: The National Association for Music Education to better reflect its mission).
Local School Programs and Summer Camps
Morristown West High School
Students from West View and Lincoln Heights Middle Schools will attend Morristown West High School. Please take a look at the MWHS Band Boosters' website. The Marching Band performs at each varsity football game, takes part
in two competitions, marches in the Morristown Veteran's Day and Christmas Parades and more. Concert Band, in second term, also affords the students many opportunities. The band takes part in competitions, performances and students may tryout for Junior Clinic (ninth grade) and Senior Clinic.
Carson~Newman Band Camp
Carson~Newman hosts an instrumental band camp each summer. It is a wonderful opportunity for band students to improve their skills, perform with students from other areas and work with new directors. Campers will give a concert at the end of the week. Information about the camp and an application are available on the C~N website.
Walters State Community Band and Jazz Band
The Community Band, under the direction of Tom Shupe, meets weekly during the fall and spring semesters.The Jazz Band, under the direction of Mike Thomas, also meets weekly. Both bands give two concerts per year, one in November or December and one in the spring. The concerts are free to the public and take place in the Judge William H. Inman Humanities Complex on the Morristown Campus of WSCC. Many former Westview and Lincoln Heights students and Hamblen county band directors take part in these bands.The Community Band
will perform on April 26, 2007 at 8:00pm and the Jazz Band performs on May 1, 2007 at 8:00pm.
