Welcome to Mrs. Rodgers'
Web Page!
I teach students...My subject is Science at the sixth grade level.
STUDENTS:
Welcome to Sixth Grade!
Be sure to arrive at school on time.
All students remain in the gym with teacher supervision until 7:50.
Breakfast is served from 7:20 until 7:50.
My goal is for each of you to be successful, to love learning, and to feel good about yourself.
PARENTS:
This is sometimes harder on you than on your child. Here are some things you can do to help your son/daughter to be successful:
Have a schedule for going to bed and waking up daily.
If your son/daughter does not have an alarm clock,
now is a good time to try one. Discuss how long the "getting ready" process will take. Set the clock accordingly.
Before going to bed, make sure your student has everything ready for the next day:
Clothes are picked out.
Backpacks are packed up.
Lunches are packed or lunch money is laid out.
Sign off on anything that needs to be sent back to teachers.
Hopefully, this will allow the day to start on a positive note.
Encourage breakfast - either at home or at school.
Talk to your child when he/she gets home in the afternoon. Questions like "What did you do at school?" will probably be answered, "Nothing."
Instead, ask questions like
"What was your favorite part of the school day today?"
"What did you learn today in Science that you didn't know before?"
Look at your child's planner and ask to see samples of work
at least once each week.
Remember that we are on the same team. We want to help your child to learn!
SCIENCE:
Remember to bring the following to class each day:
science textbook
science workbook
planner
paper
pencil
science folder/binder/organizer
library book/novel
Do you know what this is?
Would this be an alien species to Hamblen County?
Do you see a symbiotic relationship here?
These are just a few of the things we will talk about in science this year.
Are you familiar with these terms?
Yes?
Great!
Didn't know anything about them?
Don't worry...we'll learn this and much more in science!
