Hello Parents,
This week we will begin to use planners. These will come home when homework is due. It will have spelling words, word wall words, and homework assignments. Just sign your name on the correct date when homework is finished.
We are focusing on 3 reading strategies to figure out new words
1. Look at the pictures.
2. Skip the word you don’t know, then reread the sentence and see if the word pops in your head.
3. This should be the last cue you give them; sound it out or just give them the word.
Listed below is this weeks agenda.
Language Arts:
We will be studying words that begin with: b, r, h,and g; and end with: ig, in, and it word families, cause and effect,, compare and contrast, capital letters, and nouns.
Spelling words: big rig pig pit hit sit fin bin win twin Spelling test is on Friday.
Word Wall Words: a one find to have win
These are words they should be able to recognize instantly. I have attached a list of the words we have practiced and our new words. Please practice these at home daily.
Math: Months, days of the week, tally marks, and addition.
Homework
Tuesday: Read “A Big Hit” with your child.
Thursday Read “Pigs in a Rig with your child.
